So, if you are planning to redesign or revamp your website, make sure the new version is functional, easy to use and most importantly up-to-date.
Bold, Creative Typography
This web design trend concerning typography shouldn’t be a major surprise. 2017 saw some very creative use of typography and 2018 is likely to continue the trends. Making the text size bigger increases visibility and the content is more eye-catching. Expect type to not only take up more space on the screen, but also to be more creative than usual web fonts.
There is a new rising trend of underlining text. So, underlined elements and texts are now no longer just simple underlined hyperlinks. Designers started using lines and colors to highlight specific information and bring the focus to the certain area.
If you want to use this method successfully, I recommend you to loosely position the underline elements across the text, so the full look appears natural and does feel crowded. Use bright colors to achieve better effect.
Would you like to give your website visitors a real challenge? I suggest you to play a little with your website letters. Namely, rotate the letters of the titles on your website to draw viewers' attention and challenge them to read the text in unconventional and unexpected manner.
Rotate horizontal typesetting into a different direction, for example the diagonal and it will do the trick.
Drop shadows and depth
In the past couple of years we were used to flat design trends. Nowadays we can notice that web designers started playing with the shadows, now maybe more than ever. Shadows have been a staple of web design for some time in the past, but they were mostly plain. Now, we can see some new exciting variations of this method.
My tip: Using soft, subtle shadows, but combining them with vibrant color gradients (like the examples above) enhances the three dimensional effect. It creates feeling of depth and the illusion of a world beyond the screen.
Black and white color schemes are on the rise! Especially in the art industry. Monochrome look gives the website minimalistic and richer look at the same time.
A little tip here - when designing using rich black be careful how you place the text and make sure the text is readable.
